QUEPOS, Costa Rica. (April 15, 2015) — The fleet of 67 international teams from 28 countries charged out of Marina Pez Vela under picture perfect conditions yesterday, April 14th for Day Two of the 16th Annual Offshore World Championship tournament. The result was a new single day tournament release record with 940 sailfish, one black marlin and one striped marlin.

 

The white-hot bite continued from Day One with several teams recording multiple double and triple hook-ups during the day. Team Torneio de Peixes de Bico, Brazil, released 30 sailfish and weighed a 28-pound wahoo to claim the top team spot for Day Two with 6,028 points. The championship anglers mainly target sailfish, worth 200-points per release. A blue, black or striped marlin will earn 500-points per release. Tuna, wahoo and dorado, also score team points and count for individual prizes.

Heaviest Dorado

1st Place Dorado leader weighed in at 45.7 pounds, caught by Paul Dozier representing Casa De Campo International Blue Marlin Classic, Dominican Republic.

 

Heaviest Wahoo

1st Place Wahoo leader weighed in at 49.7 pounds, caught by Beni Shvartz, representing Marina Open Torneio de Pesca nas Ilhas, Brazil.

 

Following each day of fishing, the anglers enjoy themselves at the daily Dockside Socials at Marina Pez Vela with complimentary Flor de Cana Rum, local Costa Rican beer, food provided by Runaway Grill Restaurant and live entertainment while the anglers check-in their release videos.

The tournament fishing will continue throughout the week, ending on April 16. The Awards Gala at Marina Pez Vela will be April 17, which will honor the top teams, boats and anglers.?
